Breitner holds a bachelor's degree in social sciences, a master's degree and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Brasília. In this last degree of formation, he obtained a grant for exclusive dedication to the research work of the International Fellowship Program IFP of the Ford Foundation. Breitner has been a visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley in Ethnic Studies subsidized by the Fulbright Commission. Nowadays, he is Adjunct Professor IV at the University of Brasília, Campus FCE, where he currently coordinates the course of Collective Health. The researcher is a member of the Graduate Program in Development Society and International Cooperation – PPGDSCI. Recently, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Quilmes Argentina, by the Young Researcher Santander Program (01/2016 to 03/2016). Breitner has experience in the area of sociological theory and an emphasis on collective health, qualitative methodologies, urban sociology, sociology of youth, and sociology of racial relationship. He has been researching homeless youth and urban sociabilities.
