Lena Sawyer is a cultural anthropologist who teaches in the Department of Social Work at Gothenburg University, Sweden. Her areas of research have focused on gatekeepers, education and ethnic discrimination, black diasporic cultural production, racism and afro-Swedish identity, social work family investigation centers and practitioners family evaluations from an intersectional perspective and most recently public commemoration, collective memory and coloniality in Gothenburg.
